Russia: UK's treatment of Skripal case violates international law — Zakharova

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Moscow’s response to the expulsion of its diplomats from the US, Canada and 19 European Union member states will be «adequate,» adding «we can’t disclose all surprises at once», during her weekly news briefing in Moscow on Thursday. «Will [the measures] be mirrored? Let's not focus on that material yet. Still these measures will be taken... Еще, mirrored or not, they will be adequate,» Zakharova said. She said that the United Kingdom’s treatment of the Skripal case «violates the international legal norms and, in particular, the Consular Convention between Soviet Union and the United Kingdom that was signed in 1968.» She repeated that Britain has so far declined to cooperate with Russia. Going on to discuss Syria, Zakharova said the operation in Eastern Ghouta was almost over, stating «only the town of Douma is under the control of militants.»
