Russia: 'Tit-for-tat' — Russian state mass media watchdog seeks banning RT and Sputnik ads on Twitter

Members of the working group of the Russian Federation Council on Protection of National Sovereignty recommended that Russian companies refrain from advertising on Twitter, at a meeting in an extended format in Moscow, on Wednesday. Member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly Oleg Morozov suggested all Russian companies to refrain from placing advertisements on Twitter «As... Еще a tit-for-tat, retaliatory measure to the US authorities' discriminative actions against Russian mass media.» First Deputy Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation Oleg Plokhoi stressed that the Russian Government will be «forced to implement regulations aimed at increasing control over the activities of foreign NGOs, their branches, representative offices and other affiliated entities.» Head of the Russian state mass media watchdog Roskomnadzor Aleksandr Zharov in turn noted that the Russian watchdog «has enough tools to retaliate appropriately in in a tit-for-tat manner» if the USA doesn't stop exerting pressure on Russian media outlets in the USA.
