Russia: This restored Soviet screw-propelled vehicle doesn’t need a road at all!

The ZVM-2901 all-terrain screw-propelled vehicle was tested at a Nizhniy Novgorod Region swamp area on Wednesday. The vehicle was initially built in the USSR in the 1970s, and has now been restored by the Nizhniy Novgorod Plant of All-terrain Vehicles (ZVM) engineers. According to the plant’s Director Alexei Anikin, “we’re proud that we’re the first in the country who started producing these... Еще vehicles after a roughly 30-year break.» “We got used to solid surfaces, but regions of Siberia and the Far North mostly have creeping soil,» said Umar Vakhidov, Deputy Head of the vehicles desk at the local Technical University, stressing that “This car is vital for oil and gas producers.» The ZVM-2901 has a 159 horsepower CUMMINS ISF3.8 engine, and is capable of traversing water, swampland and snow, as well as carrying diggers, cranes and rescue equipment.
