Russia: Syria humanitarian crisis «shamelessly exploited for political ends» — Zakharova

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova argued that the Syrian humanitarian crisis is being «shamelessly exploited for political ends in a bid to increase unilateral pressure on Syrian authorities and the Russian Federation,» at the weekly briefing in Moscow, Thursday. According to Zakharova, instead of an adequate presentation of the situation in Raqqa, the Western media are... Еще conducting «an information campaign that is gaining its momentum, which is based upon the allegedly emerged famine in East Gouta» and is aimed an «emotional perception» of the problem. The Russian foreign ministry spokesperson denied reports that Moscow had already blocked or was intending to block a draft of the UN Security Council resolution on Myanmar, saying «in our opinion it contains a number of problematic provisions»; however, adding that Moscow is «ready for a constructive discussion of future steps of UN Security Council's future steps on this problem.» Zakharova also commented on the FBI inspection of the offices of the Russian Consulate General in San Francisco before its closure, saying that some archives «were transferred using the services of a private shipping company without the permission of the Russian side,» which she called an «unprecedented case.»
