SOT, Reporter (Russian): «Are you planning to bring her back?» Yargina, suspect's mother (Russian): «I don't know. Either police officials or I will bring her back.» SOT, Reporter (Russian): «Have you heard that she escaped several times?» SOT, Georgii, neighbour (Russian): «They could not have told me that, you understand. Only now I learn that she went missing and so on. There were cases... Еще when she used to go out at night, come back come late at night, or didn't even come back. She went out with boys, what else would she do in the summer?» The case of a 'paedophile' cannibal and his underage 'lover' has shocked the public in the Leningrad Region this week. Police say a 22-year-old male and his 12-year-old 'girlfriend' killed, dismembered and partially ate their landlord, a 21-year-old man, in the village of Novinka near St. Petersburg. The pair was detained on October 3. The twelve-year-old was later identified as Valeria Yargina from Sochi, where her parents had reported her as missing on September 23. Ruptly spoke to the girl's mother, neighbour and teacher in Sochi on Friday. «It was hard for her to study. She didn't show any desire to study. When coming to classes, she behaved like a normal student. She misbehaved a bit during breaks,» said Julia Myakisheva, Valeria's teacher at Sochi's School No 6. «We had a situation last year, with police, when she went missing on her vacation,» the teacher told, adding that «Her mother told me that it was hard for her. We used to talk with her. And she told me that it was hard dealing with her daughter.» Neighbour Georgii said he hadn't heard that the girl had gone missing several times before her latest escape. «Only now I learn that she went missing and so on. There were cases when she used to go out at night, come back come late at night, or didn't even come back. She went out with boys, what else would she do in the summer?» he said. Valeria's mother, Nadezhda Yargina, commented briefly that she expects her daughter to be returned to Sochi, refusing to speak any further. The Russian Investigative Committee is currently investigating the crime. A report on the committee's website says that a dismembered body of a young man was found in a house in the village of Novinka near St. Petersburg on October 3rd. The suspects, a 22-year old man and his 12-year-old companion, were arrested, the report added. The pair apparently lived in the house of a 21-year-old Alexey P., and police believe that either on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning the couple killed and dismembered the landlord. Investigators are currently «checking information that fragments of the killed person's body had been used as food.» According to reports, at a questioning the girl presumably told police they had tried human meat, but that it was «too sweet.» If sexual relationship between 12-year-old Valeria and the male suspect is proven, he will face additional child rape charges under Russia's criminal code. Due to her age, Valeria has been placed in detention in a facility for juvenile delinquents.
