Murder suspect and historian Oleg Sokolov was seen leaving his apartment accompanied by police after providing assistance to the investigators in St Petersburg on Friday.
Sokolov, wearing a bulletproof vest and a helmet, got into the Investigative Committee’s car after taking part in the murder probe in the apartment where he is thought to have shot and dismembered his lover, a 24-year graduate... Еще history student Anastasia Yeshchenko.
Sokolov has confessed to murdering his student with whom he had co-authored a number of articles and was in a relationship.
The 63-year-old was hauled out of the Moyka River on Saturday with a backpack containing the severed arms of a woman. Woman's remains and a bloodied hacksaw were reportedly later found in his apartment.
St Petersburg’s Oktyabrsky District Court charged Sokolov with murder on Monday and ordered to keep him in pre-trial custody for two months.
