The process of installing a 227 metre (745 foot) long railway support arch on the Kerch Strait Bridge was captured in timelapse footage on the Kerch Strait, Tuesday.
The construction, weighing more than 6,000 tonnes and measuring 45 metres (147 feet) in height was raised with the help of lifting equipment under the supervision of the lead engineers of the project. The multi-billion dollar bridge, when finished, will be some 12 miles (19 km) long, connecting Crimea to Krasnodar region in mainland Russia. It is expected to open for service to passenger vehicles and trains in 2019.
