Russia: State of emergency declared in Rostov-on-Don following huge blaze

A huge blaze engulfed the centre of Rostov-on-Don on Monday, leaving at least 50 people injured and wrecking up to 30 houses. At least 600 residents were evacuated from the neighbouring vicinities after the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) declared a state of emergency in the Rostov region. «Temporary accommodation, all the necessary services, medicine, social services... Еще, legal assistance, mother and child care rooms — everything must work,» Minister Vladimir Puchko announced. The fire was brought under control Monday evening, and police has reportedly opened a criminal case suggesting the cause of the blaze was an «intentional destruction or damage of property,» according to Russian Criminal Code.
