Four-time Olympic fencing champion Stanislav Pozdnyakov was elected as the new president of the Russian Olympic Committee [ROC] in Moscow on Tuesday. ROC members chose Pozdnyakov over former Olympic swimmer Alexander Popov, by 214 votes to 56. Speaking to press after his victory, Pozdnyakov outlined a future roadmap for the ROC. «We must fight against doping in the country, change the anti... Еще-doping culture and we have found full co-operation with the IOC [International Olympic Committee] on this platform,» he said. Outgoing ROC President Alexander Zhukov lauded Pozdnyakov's achievements in his previous roles, as the first vice-president of the ROC and head of the Russian delegation at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang .
