St. Petersburg residents held a rally in support of the banned Telegram messenger application in front of Russia's Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) building. Protesters brought about 2,000 paper planes, a Telegram icon, and left them by the door of the Roskomnadzor building. The Telegram application was banned across the... Еще entire territory of the Russian Federation, following a ruling by the Tagansky district court in Moscow on Friday. The hearing was held after the Roskomnadzor appealed to the court to block Telegram following the company's refusal to give the Federal Security Service (FSB) access to the users' messaging data. Telegram's representatives had announced earlier that they did not plan to follow the order of the regulator to provide the FSB with encryption keys needed to access the data. With its 15 million users, Telegram is one of the most popular messaging applications in Russia.
