«First of all, the main requirement is the ability to work fairly quietly at night, as well as in areas that are normally inaccessible to noisy or smoky two-wheeled modes of transport.» Russian weapons manufacturer Kalashnikov unveiled a series of motorbikes at the International Military-Technical Forum «Army 2017» expo, held at Patriot Park, Moscow, on Monday. The company displayed two... Еще electric bikes and a concept internal combustion heavy motorbike, which was dubbed the «Bat-Bike» by journalists at the event. «It’s a concept that allows us to test both the technical and design solutions, that’s how we see the [full] potential of this concept motorbike», Deputy General Director for Marketing and Sales Vladimir Dmitriev said. The two electric bikes have a range of about 150 kilometres (93 miles) and come in versions for the military and the police. As well as being fuel efficient, one of their main advantages is the lack of noise and smoke they produce. “The main requirement is the ability to work fairly quietly at night, as well as in areas that are normally inaccessible to noisy or smoky two-wheeled modes of transport,” Dmitriev said, referring to the potential use of the bikes in Russia’s Special Forces. The bikes are yet to receive official names and it is not yet confirmed whether they will enter into production or go into service.
