Russia: Skripal was of 'zero value' to Moscow — Peskov *EXCLUSIVE*

Russia had no reason to poison the former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal, who was «of zero value, of zero importance» for the country, stated Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitri Peskov in an exclusive interview for RT's SophieCo show on Wednesday. «He was handed in to Britain as a result of exchange. So, why should Russia hand in a man that is of any importance or that is of any... Еще value — it's unimaginable,» Peskov said, adding that Skripal should be called «British spy» as he worked for the UK intelligence service. Among other topics brought to the discussion was the developing of several new strategic weapons by Russia. Peskov explained that these measures are the only possible response to US pursuit of a global anti-ballistic missile defence system. «The only way was to show that in any case, despite all the efforts of our counterparts in this story, despite their continuous efforts to build the entire missiles shield, Russia will be capable of ensuring mutual deterrence system,» he said. In his interview, Peskov also commented on the crackdown on RT in the US and UK. He said that the appearance of any «rivals» scares the British and American media, as it poses a threat for their monopoly in the world and ruins «the system of brainwash.»
