Russia: See Volgograd’s past and present as city awaits World Cup 2018

Volgograd shows off its beauty and history as the city gears up for the highly anticipated 2018 FIFA World Cup, in footage captured September 2017. Volgograd, formerly known as Stalingrad, stretches along the Volga River and is most famous for the brutal World War II Battle of Stalingrad. The 2018 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place in Russia from June 14 to July 15, 2018. A total of 64 matches will be played in 12 venues located in 11 cities across Russia, with the final set to take place in Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
