The second stage of the joint Russian-Belorussian ZAPAD-2017 military drills kicked off in the Leningrad region, Sunday. During airborne drills at a military airfield, Su-25 aircrafts practised hitting ground targets such as military vehicles with the use of unguided missiles. The drills are taking place under the overall supervision of the chiefs of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. They will be held until September 20. ZAPAD-2017, which is the largest army training event this year, is the final stage of the training programme between the two armies.
