Russia: Released leftist leader Udaltsov hits out at Navalny

Russian opposition politician and 'Left Front' activist Sergei Udaltsov criticised the actions of other opposition politicians from Moscow, Thursday, during his first press conference after completing a four and half year sentence in a penal camp for his involvement in Russia's May 2012 protests. Udaltsov specifically hit out at the activist Alexei Navalny for pushing protesters to demonstrate... Еще in Moscow areas during 2012 where rallies were not permitted. The demonstrations would go on to end in violent clashes. «The day before the protest Alexei Navalny [Russian opposition politician] suggested not to go on Bolotnaya Square, but to sit in front of the 'Udarnik' film theatre, I spent all my efforts to dissuade people not to follow, Leonid [Razvozhaev] helped me and we didn't manage to do so properly,» said Udaltsov. «Today, we can see that there is a situation [when some opposition leaders] during the large protests put protesters under fire, under the batons, under arrest without asking the protesters' opinion. I don't know if this is a kind of strategy, but I think people should not be treated this way,» he added. Udaltsov was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison in 2014 after he was found guilty of planning mass protests in Moscow in May 2012 that ended in violence.
