Russia: Putin visits park opened in Moscow for first time in 70 years

Russian President Vladimir Putin, along with Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, attended the opening ceremony of Moscow's Zaryadye Park, Saturday. The Russian president traveled to the park from the Red Square, where he delivered a speech on the occasion of the 870th anniversary of Moscow. The park is set to open to the public on September 11. The total area of the park is 10,2 hectares, with green space being divided into four landscape zones, filled with trees, bushes and some 120 species of plants. Following the opening ceremony, Putin and Sobyanin attended the cinema, located in the park, where they watched aerial views of Moscow cityscape on screen. Putin was reportedly impressed by the cinema, noting that he «could even see his house from above.»
