Russia: Putin urges free trade within the CIS at extended meeting in Sochi

Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered an opening speech at the extended meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Sochi, Wednesday. Putin stated that the economy remains «the highest priority» of CIS states pointing out that «since the beginning of the year there has been a recovery in economic activity in our countries, in particular, the volume of mutual goods-turnover has... The Russian president ended his remarks by announcing that «joint statements in support of traditional family values» will be accepted to honour the remaining year of the family, adding that the document will be «open to all states that share the principles enshrined within it.»
