Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the new Governor of the Kemerovo region Sergei Tsivilev, in Moscow on Thursday. “You took office as the Governor of the Kemerovo region in difficult times, I would say, in a critical situation. But it should encourage you to the effective work, mobilise all your positive attributes, you have enough of them, you have showed them with dignity... Еще in different places. I expect that people are able to feel it, when you’ll get to work”, said the Russian President referring to last month’s mall blaze tragedy. “Of course, the main potential in the Kemerovo region are the people. Now we have to work with every family to assist all those who suffered in this tragedy [the Kemerovo Mall blaze]. At the same time we try to prevent this from happening again,” continued Tsivilev. At least 64 people, many of whom were children, died in the fire which engulfed a shopping mall in the city of Kemerovo on 25 March. According to the Russian Investigative Committee, the fire escape routes were blocked inside the mall.
