Russia: Putin discusses move against Russian media in US with Security Council

Russian President Vladimir Putin held an operational meeting with the permanent members of the Security Council, to discuss recent pressure on Russian media outlets operating overseas, in Moscow on Friday. In particular, they talked about the situation concerning the company that supplies services to Russian news-channel RT America. The US Department of Justice wants to have that company... Еще registered as a foreign agent. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova commented on the issue during a weekly media briefing, Thursday. “Applying the FARA to RT will have serious legal consequences, and will also compromise the safety of its employees. It demands disclosure of the channel’s confidential data, including the list of employees and their personal data. In the witch hunt atmosphere which has been established in the US, this provision may pose a real danger,» Zakharova stated. Among other topics that were discussed at the Security Council was the situation in Syria, including developments in the Deir-ez-Zor area, and the results of the Russian-Turkish high-level talks held in Ankara on Thursday.
