Russia: Putin chairs security council meeting over Ukrainian Orthodox Church breakaway

Russian President Vladimir Putin convened a meeting of Russia's security council on Friday in Moscow, to discuss the situation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine, after the head of the Orthodox Church Bartholomew I recognised the independence of breakaway Ukrainian Orthodox churches. Currently there are three different major Eastern Orthodox churches in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Orthodox... Еще Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC), the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kievan Patriarchate (UOC-KP), and the Ukranian Autocephalous Orthodox Church (UAOC). Only the UOC was officially recognised by other Orthodox churches until the decision by Bartholomew I on Thursday.
