Russia: Putin calls Security Council meeting over diplomats' expulsion

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council in Moscow on Friday, discussing the expulsion of more than 150 foreign diplomats as a tit-for-tat measure to Western nations. Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, the Head of the Federation Council Svetlana Matvienko, Prime-Minister Dmitri Medvedev and the Minister of Internal Affairs... Еще Vladimir Kolokoltsev were among those to take part in the meeting. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced on Thursday that Moscow is to expel the same number of diplomats that the Western nations announced earlier. The decision comes following the poisoning of former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury. The UK has blamed Moscow for the incident, while Russia has denied any involvement in the affair.
