Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe discussed trade and bilateral relations in Vladivostok on Monday ahead of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF). The Russian leader stated that trade between the two countries has developed smoothly in the past 18 months. Abe, in his turn, said he wants to discuss the status of the Southern Kuril Islands and the signing of the... Еще peace treaty. The EEF, which has been held on an annual basis since 2015, works as a forum to develop political, economic and cultural ties between Russia and the Asia Pacific. This year's headline guests include, besides the Japanese prime minister, the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, the President of Mongolia Haltmagiin Buttulga and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Lee Nak Yong.
