Russia: Prominent lawyer insists ‘no interests’ in Browder trial

A prominent lawyer questioned over alleged links to the William Browder fraud trail in Moscow said she had no interests in the case. Lawyer Nataliya Veselnitskaya was quizzed at Tverskoy Court which is hearing fraud charges in absentia against Browder. “I always said that I had no interests here,” said Veselnitskaya at the hearing where she was questioned by Browder’s defence lawyers... Еще. Veselnitskaya was previously engaged in a private investigation of the management company Hermitage Capital which was headed by Browder. For three years she probed Browder’s company for a Russian client in US, businessman Denis Katsyv. “The quality of the interrogations and the quality of evidence collection that we carried out with the team of the US attorneys of the highest level. I think that many lawyers should read and learn,” she stated after questioning. That is the second case against Browder in Russia. Proceedings are held in absentia, as the accused is living in the US. He is accused of causing damages totalling 3.5 billion rubles to three offices of the Federal Tax Service in Moscow.
