Orthodox Christians celebrated the 1030th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus in Chersonesus on Saturday. The event took place on the feast day of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir. A divine service took place in St. Vladimir's Cathedral, at the place where, according to the legend, Rus was baptised. Representatives from the Government of Sevastopol, the Black Sea Fleet, the... Еще Sevastopol deanery, as well as honorary residents and guests of the city were among the participants. Believers held a traditional procession where they carried the images and relics of Prince Vladimir. In the evening, the choir from Moscow's Sretensky Monastery performed the 'Masterpieces of the Choral Art of Russia.' The Prime Minister of Russia Dmitri Medvedev attended the concert. The concert took place on a new stage specially designed for the festival.
