Russia: Patriarch Kirill wishes cosmonaut Kononenko Merry Orthodox Christmas

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia (Russian): “Amazing! I can only imagine. Probably, the stars are very bright, brighter than they are down from Earth. There is no atmosphere, and all these are seen well, perhaps.» Oleg Kononenko, Russian cosmonaut (Russian): “Yes, the stars are brighter as there is no atmosphere. As for cities, I’m interested in night photography. Two days ago I managed... Еще to capture Jerusalem at night. And yesterday I shot Moscow for the first time, but to tell the truth the centre was cloudless, and the outskirts were with clouds.” Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia (Russian): “I warmly thank you.” Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia wished Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko, who is currently in orbit aboard the ISS, Merry Christmas during their video conversation, that was held on Monday in Moscow. “I would like to warmly wish you Merry Christmas. It is a tradition already that I have the opportunity to congratulate our cosmonauts in orbit at Christmas and Easter,” Patriarch Kirill said. “I from my side wish you the patience, the resilience in our complicated life, which especially you have now, taking into the consideration the current situation in the world. So [I wish you to be] healthy, strong and patient. Thank you for this conversation,” Kononenko said. Referring to a previous conversation, the two also discussed ways to keep fit, with both agreeing to take a walk together along Patriarch Kirill’s favourite Nordic walking spot.
