Witnesses of the partial collapse of a residential building in Izhevsk recounted their experiences during the deadly incident, Thursday. At least five people were killed during the collapse. The death toll is expected to rise as there might be other people trapped under the rubble. A witness, who works nearby, said that «the building totally collapsed from one side, two blocks of flats were... Еще destroyed. There was a huge blast. Cars that were parked nearby were all destroyed. Only wreckage left.» Izhevsk Mayor, Yury Turin, reassured that «beds and hot meals will be provided for those who lived in this house.» Acting Head of Udmurt Republic, Alexander Brechalov, reported that «we are now compiling the list of shelters where people will be placed. The addresses [of the shelters] will be provided soon.» An investigation is currently underway, with a gas explosion reportedly seen as a possible cause. A total of 411 emergency service workers and 111 pieces of equipment were involved in the response, many of them from Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM).
