Russia: «Nobody could have anticipated this» — Pupil on school axe attack

Police detained the suspected school attacker, after the student was believed to have stormed into a school with an axe injuring six people and setting fire to the building with a Molotov cocktail. Media reports citing officials suggest the suspect was a ninth-grader, saying he had attacked a teacher and several students. He chopped off one of the victim's fingers, according to reports. The mother of a girl who attended the same school said that «panic» took hold at the school and the pupils were «all crying» and «even knocking on apartment doors» asking for help as they fled from the scene of the attack. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Buryatia has launched criminal proceedings against the suspect.
