At least eight people were injured as a result of an explosion at an artillery warehouse near the town of Achinsk on Friday, only four days after a series of explosions killed one and injured eight more at the same arms depot.
Footage shows emergency vehicles on a road near the East Siberian city and people getting into buses to be evacuated.
According to Russia’s Ministry of Defence, «on... Еще August 9 the lightning hit the ammunition storage with breached protection, which resulted in the ammunition igniting in the warehouse and following explosion».
The ammunition facility first exploded on Monday after a fire broke out in the depot which then triggered multiple explosions, according to the Russian MoD.
One person was killed and eight more injured in the incident according to Russia's Investigative Committee, after earlier reports put the number of injured at 12.
Nearly 4,000 people were evacuated from the nearby town of Achinsk and villages located next to the arms depot following the blast.
Around 40,000 tank and artillery shells were kept in the base at the moment of explosion.
