Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny received a 10-day prison sentence from Moscow’s Khoroshevsky Court, Monday, for taking part in an unsanctioned rally in support of Meduza journalist Ivan Golunov on June 12.
The court found him guilty of violating rules for holding a rally last month and took into
consideration his previous violations.
Navalny was detained on June 12 and charged with... Еще «repeated violation of the procedure for holding a public event,» as the Golunov rally was not sanctioned by Moscow city council.
According to Moscow authorities, the unauthorised march posed a «security threat» to the public since the capital is holding events dedicated to the Russia Day, celebrated on June 12.
