Russia: Muscovites pay tribute to Kemerovo fire victims

Hundreds of people gathered in Moscow's Manezh Square by the Kremlin on Tuesday to pay tribute to the 64 people who died in the 'Zimniaya Vishnya' (Winter Cherry) shopping mall fire in Kemerovo on Sunday. The tribute rally organised by the Moscow local authorities saw people lighting candles and laying flowers and soft toys for the victims. A similar, unofficial event was also held in Pushkin... People said they gathered to express solidarity with those, who lost their relatives and kids in the fire, adding they want to hear true numbers of how many people were killed as well as unbiased investigation to be conducted. «I also have a younger sister and I imagine if she had called me and said: 'Karina, I'm burning, I love you', I don't know what I would have felt and what I would have done to people guilty of it,» said Karina, one of the mourners. Earlier on Tuesday, thousands of people rallied in the centre of Kemerovo demanding justice for the victims of the mall inferno. At least 64 people, including many children, were killed in the fire which engulfed the shopping mall in Kemerovo on Sunday. According to the Russian Investigative Committee, the fire escape routes were blocked inside the mall. An investigation into the tragedy is underway. The source of the blaze was located on the top floor where several cinema halls and children's playgrounds with attractions are located.
