A monument dedicated to the former Cuban leader Fidel Castro was unveiled in the Crimean village of Olenevka, Sunday.
Minister of Information for Crimea Dmitri Polonski was present on the opening, during which he said that, as Castro has forbidden to name any landmarks after his name in his native Cuba, «it seems unfair when a great, without exaggeration, political leader will have no chance to... Еще be perpetuated.»
The monument was opened within the framework of the festival Extreme Crimea 2017. It was created by Crimean sculptors from local limestone. The monument is made in the form of a two metre (6,5ft) stele with the image of Castro. Under the picture, it is quoted a famous phrase of the politician: «Victory is persistence.»
