Thousands of people gathered throughout Russia to remember the 64 people who died in the 'Zimniaya Vishnya' (Winter Cherry) shopping mall fire in Kemerovo on Sunday. Hundreds of balloons were released simultaneously in Irkutsk. More than 500 people attended the Field of Mars in St. Petersburg where mourners left flowers, toys and lit candles for the dead. In Sevastopol, people of all ages... Еще gathered in Heroic Cities Alley. Dozens dedicated a minute of silence to the victims in central Lenina Square of Chita. In the Memorial of Glory in Vladikavkaz and in Beslan, mourners wrote a message made out of candles reading “Kemerovo. [We] mourn.” At least 64 people, including many children, were killed in the fire which engulfed the shopping mall in Kemerovo on Sunday. According to the Russian Investigative Committee, the fire escape routes were blocked inside the mall. An investigation into the tragedy is underway. The source of the blaze was located on the top floor where several cinema halls and children's playgrounds with attractions are located.
