Former two-weight UFC champion Conor McGregor held his first ever press conference on Russian soil in Moscow on Thursday, announcing he will to return to the Octagon on January 18 in Las Vegas.
The Irishman said he is to fight against an unnamed opponent in his first bout since losing to UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov last October.
McGregor went on to say that he eventually wants a... Еще rematch with Nurmagomedov, preferably in Moscow, accusing the Dagestani fighter of running and hiding from him.
“This is in the nature of the Dagestani man to run. Every great Russian knows this about the Dagestani men. Every Chechen knows this about the Dagestani men. They run and they cower,” he said.
“The people of Moscow, the people of Russia, they deserve this inevitable rematch. This is an inevitable rematch,” the Irish fighter concluded.
Mcgregor's UFC return comes as he faces an assault charge in Ireland for punching an elderly man in a Dublin pub in April.
