Russia: LGBT activists detained after unauthorised rally in St Petersburg

Twenty-nine LGBT activists were detained by the Russian police in Saint Petersburg on Saturday. Around 60 protesters gathered at the Palace Square in Russia’s Northern Capital for ‘Saint-Petersburg Pride’, waving rainbow flags and holding placards. Several activists were charged with 'violation of the order of the event', since it was unauthorised, while some were released shortly after.
