Russia: Lavrov accepts invitation to visit North Korea

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accepted an invitation to pay a reciprocal visit to Pyongyang after his talks with North Korean foreign minister Ri Yong-ho in Moscow on Tuesday. Commenting on the North Korean nuclear programme, Lavrov said the development of the matter is in line with the Russian-Chinese road map. «The issue is not easy, and ensuring the legitimate security interests of... Еще the DPRK in the context of denuclearisation will require serious co-ordination,» he added. «Guarantees, which will be discussed at the talks on the Korean peninsula, should be watertight,» said Lavrov. Answering a question on the alleged chemical attack in the Syrian city of Douma, Lavrov stated that Russia has invited experts from the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) to inspect the site, and will 'ensure that this visit happens.' «We can no longer take for granted the results of an investigation from a distance, as it was in the case of Khan Shaykhun a year ago, when the outcome of such a remote investigation was a vague report, all along and across full of the phrases like 'highly possible' or 'highly likely,'» said Lavrov.
