Russia: 'Justice will prevail' — Russian Skier on CAS decision to overturn ban

Russian cross country skier Maxim Vylegzhanin commented on the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s (CAS) decision to overturn the doping ban for 28 Russian athletes including himself, in Syktyvkar on Thursday. «I was told that CAS decided that the disqualification and the suspension are lifted and all that. The question that immediately arose was: what about the Olympics? Will we manage to dispute... Еще and get the invitation?» Vylegzhanin said expressing his feelings. Talking about the hearing at the CAS trial, he noted that «Questions were asked both by our side and the IOC’s. Rodchenkov was not saying anything specific in his testimony,» adding that «I really wanted that we would be reinstated and our medals as well, that we would be given the ticket to the Olympics.» Vylegzhanin, along with the other 27 athletes, will still need a special invitation from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in order to participate in the Pyeongchang Olympics. He said the Russian skiers’ lawyer was preparing documents for the IOC at the moment, concluding that «justice will always prevail.»
