Russian journalist and human rights activist Ekaterina Gordon announced her presidential ambitions in a video statement, in Moscow, Monday.
In the video, the 37-year-old mother of two said she used to «take part in opposition events and tried to find common ground with pro-Kremlin representatives, but I realised that all of them sing from the same song sheet.»
She also said «this is a country of... Еще single mothers, and nobody cares about them,» adding that she wanted to «become a voice for those women whose rights have been violated.»
Russian media did not take the intention seriously, since the statement looked very similar to that of Ksenia Sobchak and might be a continuation of an old conflict between the two. Sobchak was a guest on a show hosted by Gordon on the Mayak radio station. Following a heated exchange between the two, Gordon was fired from the station.
The Russian presidential elections are set to take place on March 18, 2018.
