Russia: Iraqi transport minister lands in Moscow, ending 13-year break in air travel

Flights connection between Russia and Iraq is resumed on Sunday, after 13 years break. Iraqi Transport Minister Kazim Hamami boarded the first flight from Baghdad to Moscow which carried out by the Iraqi Airways airlines. The Minister was greeted upon arrival by number of officials and press gathered at Vnukovo airport. Speaking at the airport, Hamami said he expected this restoration in air... Еще travel to result in «a further increase of flights, contacts and a deepening of relations between our countries.» In late August, the Iraqi air carrier Iraqi Airways announced plans to open regular flights from Baghdad to Moscow from September 2017 after a 13-year hiatus. These plans were announced after the negotiations of the representatives of the Russian Air Transport Agency with the Ambassador of Iraq to Russia Haidar Mansour Hadi.
