Russia: «I don't condone Pyongyang» — Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he doesn't «condone Pyongyang» when asked about the republic's recent nuclear tests and Russian proposal to mediate Korean Peninsula tensions, during a Q&A session at the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi, Monday. Russia's top diplomat stressed that Pyongyang «behaves provocatively and crudely violates all resolutions of the Security... Еще Council.» Referring to the war in Syria and the ongoing operation to oust ISIS from the country's territory, Lavrov slammed the United States for «preserving Jabhat al-Nusra» in order to fight Syrian government regime «should they have to go with Plan B,» he added. Continuing on the issue of relations with the United States, Lavrov went on to talk about the US Congress's efforts to force RT to register as a foreign agent. «If the American justice system decides to take such an absolute wrongful decision in relation to the media, then we will have to establish reciprocal restrictions against American channels that work in Russia and which are funded with American taxpayer money,» said the Minister. When asked about how to improve trade relations between Russia and Germany, Lavrov couldn't resist lightening the mood with a joke, «We have already been accused of interfering in the US, German, French and Sweden elections. So you really want us to intervene in your economy, am I right?» The 19th World Festival of Youth and Students is held in Sochi between October 15 and 22, with over 20.000 participants from 150 countries participating.
