Russia: Hundreds evacuated after flooding hits eastern Siberia

Drone footage released on Monday shows the aftermath of floods that forced hundreds of people to leave their homes in the eastern Siberian town of Shilka, located in the Zabaykalsky region. At least 135 households were flooded in Shilka, while six villages in the area were affected as well. Hundreds of people have been evacuated and more than 5,000 people in the region are lacking electricity... Еще. Earlier on Monday Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) declared a state of emergency in Zabaykalsky region. According to local authorities, the water levels of the Shilka, Chita and Karenga rivers are expected to keep on rising during next 24 hours.
