Russia: 'Go ahead and pinch me!' — Putin proves he’s real to awestruck student

We do it for you. « Student (Russian): «You are a very active person, do you have a desire sometimes to take a break from work and just come party with us?» Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): «Of course, I would like to!» SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): «Go ahead and pinch me [if you don't believe it!]» Russian President Vladimir Putin had to prove to a student that he was not dreaming at the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students as he attended an informal meeting in Sochi's Olympic Park on Thursday evening. «I'm so overwhelmed, I can't believe I'm standing in front of the President of Russian Federation,» said the student looking startled. Russian President immediately found a practical solution to dispel all doubts. «Go ahead and pinch me,» he offered. During the meeting participants asked Russian President various questions as well as giving accounts of their activities at the festival. «We talk about our ideas of the better world, we talk about understanding each other better and how to deal with power, how to make each other accountable,» stated one of the participants. Putin jokingly corrected the student, saying that «power should be cared for.» At the end of the meeting, Putin received souvenirs from students from Tanzania, Mozambique and Serbia among other countries. Over 20,000 participants from 150 countries are attending the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students, held between 15 and 22 October in Sochi.
