Russia: Georgia joining NATO will provoke 'terrible conflict' — Medvedev

During an interview dedicated to 10-year anniversary of the beginning of the Russo-Georgian War in Moscow on Monday, Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev pointed out that if NATO let Georgia become a new member of the alliance, it would «provoke a terrible conflict.» Touching upon the cause of the war, the Russian Prime Minister said: «It was not inevitable, no doubt it was the subjective... Еще choice of Saakashvili and his surroundings.» From Medvedev, the best solution to the problem was to recognise the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The Russo-Georgian War started in 2008 and as a result Tbilisi lost control of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Dmitri Medvedev was Russian President back then.
