Former Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin confirmed his intention to run for the post of chairman of Russia’s Accounts Chamber. He was speaking following a meeting with MPs at the State Duma in Moscow on Monday. “I thanked United Russia party members for putting forward my candidacy. I agreed to run for chairman of Russia’s Accounts Chamber,” he said. “We have to improve the fight against... Еще corruption and prevent it. Not only catch criminals, which is important, as the Accounts Chamber documents often constitute grounds for opening criminal cases, but also to create those financial mechanisms that can prevent corruption,” he explained. Alexei Kudrin was Russia’s finance minister between 2000-2011. After his resignation, he headed the Committee for Civil Initiatives, a non-profit organisation.
