Firefighters continued to douse the smouldering remains of buildings engulfed by yesterday's huge blaze in the centre of Rostov-on-Don which left at least 50 people injured, Tuesday. Dozens of residents who lost their homes in the blaze have been placed in temporary accommodation by local authorities. Some of the fire victims believe the blaze was the result of an arson attack. «I heard the... Еще sound of breaking glass from the outside. When I went to the window, I saw that the rear wall of the house was on fire. So, it was a bottle with something in it,» one resident said. At least 600 residents were evacuated from the neighbouring vicinities after the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) declared a state of emergency in the Rostov area. Police have reportedly opened a criminal case, suggesting the cause of the blaze was an «intentional destruction or damage of property,» according to the Russian Criminal Code.
