Achilles the Cat celebrated the annual Cat Day at the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg on Saturday, and also got in the mood to start predicting 2018 World Cup results. Achilles had to go on a diet to get in shape for the tournament. The cat, which is an official animal oracle for the FIFA World Cup in Russia, had a special feeder for weighing out his food. He also had an exercise-wheel to... Еще work off his excess weight and, reportedly, managed to lose up to one kg in weight. The Hermitage Museum vet Anna Kondratyeva said that Achilles will “make his first prediction at a press conference,” adding that “on a regular basis” the furry oracle will predict matches, starting from June 14. Achilles has a good record of predictions for which he became famous during the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. ‘Day of the Hermitage Cat’ is a special project of the State Hermitage, which is dedicated to cats that claim the museum as their home. Cats have been a fixture of the Hermitage Museum since the 18th century, when Elizabeth of Russia issued a decree for authorities to procure “the best and biggest cats” available due to the building being overrun with rats and mice.
