An 11-year-old boy survived after jumping from the fourth floor of the shopping centre that caught fire in Kemerovo on Sunday. The boy is now in hospital receiving treatment for his injuries. However his father, mother and four-year old sister died in the fire. According to Konstantin Kovalkov, the chief children's surgeon in the Kemerovo region, the boy sustained «multiple, severe injuries. He... However medical professionals are optimistic that his condition will improve. According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), the death toll from the blaze has risen to 64. Emergency crews continue their rescue mission, with more people feared trapped beneath the rubble. The Investigative Committee is considering three causes of the incident, including a malfunction of the electrical wiring, an arson attack or a spontaneous ignition in the children's area, with some reports claiming that a child may have got hold of a lighter and set foam-rubber balls on fire. The source of the blaze was located on the top floor where several cinema halls and children's playgrounds with attractions are located.
