Russia: Fairway support arch gets mounted on Kerch Strait Bridge in a 12-hour operation

The installation process of fairway supports onto the 227 metre (745 foot) long railway arch of the Kerch Strait Bridge got underway on the Kerch Strait, Tuesday. The height of the arch lie at 35 metres (115 feet) above sea level. The construction, weighing more than 6 thousand tonnes and 45 metres (147 feet) tall was raised with the help of lifting equipment under the supervision of the leading... The multi-billion dollar bridge, when finished, will be some 12 miles (19 km) long, connecting Crimea to Krasnodar region in mainland Russia. It is expected to open for service to passenger vehicles and railways in 2019, and will be amongst the longest bridges in the world.
