EMERCOM rescuers Pyotr Gritsenko and Anatoly Chumichev visited Ivan Fokin, a 10-month old baby rescued from under the rubble of the Magnitogorsk residential building collapse, in a hospital in Moscow on Wednesday.
Chumichev said, «Of course, it won't leave you unmoved when you see Vanechka [a diminutive form of the name Ivan], whom we pulled out from debris and who spent a lot of time there... Еще practically without any strength, and now when you look at how his mother feeds him.»
The EMERCOM rescuers brought a present to Ivan, a dog toy dressed in an EMERCOM uniform.
Last week, an entire section of a 10-storey tower block in Magnitogorsk collapsed, causing dozens to be trapped under debris in subzero conditions.
The 10-month old infant spent about 36 hours in freezing conditions before being rescued. Fokin was then delivered to the local hospital in serious condition with multiple injuries and hypothermia. The same day the infant was transported by plane from Magnitogorsk to Moscow's Research Institute for Children's Emergency Surgery and Traumatology. His mother Olga Fokina travelled with him.
