Russia: Croatian President commends «a new step» in Moscow-Zagreb ties

Russian President Vladimir Putin held bilateral talks with his Croatian counterpart Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic in Sochi on Wednesday. Putin noted that «this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries.» He went on to say that he was «pleased» to observe «a significant increase in trade turnover» between Russia and Croatia before expressing... Еще confidence that «such numerous meetings» would «benefit» Russia-Croatia bilateral relations. In turn, Grabar-Kitarovic said that she was «extremely pleased with today's talks,» which she hoped to be «a new step in our relations» and to «open a new phase of cooperation.» She then invited Putin to Croatia with an official visit, adding that «until now, any of the Russian presidents have not travelled to the Republic of Croatia on an official visit.» According to the Croatian president, economic cooperation between Moscow and Zagreb are on the agenda as well as the question of global security. Grabar-Kitarovic is set to meet with Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev and Chairperson of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko during her visit.
