The Russian national football team held a training session in Novogorsk, Moscow Region, on Thursday, ahead of their World Cup quarter-final game against Croatia at Sochi's Fisht Stadium on July 7. Russian central midfielder Alan Dzagoev commented on his side's performances so far: «We have had good games against Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Spain. Maybe we didn't show our level with Uruguay. But I hope... Еще we will show our game and show our supporters that we can play football in the match with Croatia.» Russia beat Saudi Arabia 5-0 in the opening game on June 14 and Egypt 3-1 on June 19 but lost 3-0 to Uruguay on June 25. Russia progressed to the quarter-finals after defeating Spain in a penalty shootout at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium on July 1. The winner of the tie will face either England or Sweden.
